In order to be able to pinpoint a job on the map, we need too know the location. We do this by using the services of AFD Postcode Plotter. Addresses can be very unstructured if not managed correctly and we make sure that all our customers validate their address data. So we have a valid postcode and the corrrect latitude and longitude. It's easier to use and easier to manage.
If you use poscode software - it's also quicker to enter new customer records in your system manually. Put the postcode in - and the system brings back the correct address details.
Addresses change more often that we realise perhaps - and in their latest newsletter - AFD estimates that over 700,000 addresses changed since the start of 2009 with 46,500 new postcodes.
Using a valid postcode also means that we have an easy option when using TomTom and can get TomTom to calculate the route, automatically, just by tapping a 'Travel to' button.
